Liberty and excellence. It's not just a slogan, it's a commitment.
Liberty is not inevitable. Excellence is not part of our genetic coding.
We must teach our children to cherish liberty. We must cultivate a culture that rewards excellence. Obviously the first and most important incubator of these values is the home, but our schools need to reinforce our values rather than subtly undermining them.
Lone Rock may be a "good" school, but compared to what? Montana's schools barely beat the national average and the national average is decidedly lackluster, especially when compared to other industrialized nations. So Lone Rock is better than the average of the mediocre? That's hardly high praise.
Lone Rock was the last school here in northern Ravalli County to lift the general mask mandate. The school crows about the technology that is available to students, but they are raising up button pushers, not engineers. The school is flush with COVID money, and getting ahead on much needed maintenance, yet the board is already trying to figure out how to raise taxes in a year or two. Lone Rock does have many activities and educational opportunities, but participation trophies seems to be the norm rather than honoring superior performance.
We must provide our children with a quality education that gives them the tools that they need to thrive and lead in a free society.
It is my commitment to you that I will endeavor to foster a love of liberty and a commitment to excellence at Lone Rock School.
The American Legion is putting together a school board forum at the Lone Rock middle school building on April 19th between 6pm-7pm. Vote informed! Contact Lone Rock School for more info.

Both incumbents are the most left leaning on this left-of-center school board. Kerry Mason is a firm believer in parental rights and has my vote since there are two seats open this year. Read the blurb from the Ravalli Republic, and don't forget the candidate forum to form your own opinion.

The candidate forum was packed. Thanks to everybody for showing an interest!
At the forum I mentioned that some activist teachers are deliberately using stealth clubs to indoctrinate children. Here's the story. (Sorry I didn't have the link up already like I said at the forum).
